Privacy
Your data, in plain words.
We are a surf school, not a data company. This page explains the little we collect, why, and what your rights are.
Last updated: 18 July 2026
Who is responsible
Grandela Surf Club, Baleal, Peniche, Portugal. For anything about your data, write to grandelasurfclub@gmail.com.
What we collect
This website has one form — the booking on our Surf Camps page. When you send it, we receive the details you chose and typed: how many of you and your group type, your preferred week, surf level, accommodation preference, any extras and special requests, and your name, email, phone and country.
If instead you contact us by WhatsApp, email or Instagram, we receive what you send us: your name, your contact, your messages, and practical details for the lesson or camp (how many people, ages of children, swimming ability, dates).
Cookies and advertising
By default this site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. We do advertise our camps on Facebook and Instagram, so we ask once — in a small banner at the foot of the page — whether you allow Meta’s advertising pixel. If you accept, a piece of code from Meta Platforms Ireland is loaded; it sets cookies in your browser (named _fbp and _fbc) and tells us which advert brought you here and whether you went on to send an enquiry. The legal basis is your consent, and nothing is loaded before you give it.
Decline and none of it is loaded — the site behaves exactly the same. Your choice is kept in your own browser, and you can change it whenever you like:
Why we use it
To answer you, arrange and run your lessons and camps, and keep you safe in the water. That is the whole list. The legal basis is the booking itself (performance of a contract, or steps at your request before one) and, for safety details, our legitimate interest in teaching responsibly.
What we never do
We do not sell your data, share it for marketing, or add you to mailing lists you did not ask for.
Third parties
If you write to us on WhatsApp or Instagram, those conversations also live on Meta's platforms under their own privacy terms. Choosing email instead is always fine.
Our booking form is delivered and stored for us by Netlify, the host of this website, acting as our data processor; your submission is sent securely to us and is not used for anything other than replying to and arranging your camp.
How long we keep it
Booking conversations are kept while they are useful for your lessons and for as long as Portuguese law requires us to keep records (for example, invoicing). Then they go.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, or object to how it is used. One message to grandelasurfclub@gmail.com is enough.
If you believe we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Portuguese supervisory authority: CNPD — Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, cnpd.pt.
